Unagi are one of Wilmslow’s latest arrivals to join the town’s flourishing range of food and drink venues and here is what Manchester’s Finest had to say.
Unagi have come along way from a food-truck and doing pop ups all over the city, to having their very own Neo-Tokyo inspired Japanese street food and sushi restaurant in the heart of Wilmslow…..Manchester’s Finest
The venue itself feels like walking into a back street Tokyo sushi bar, with seating all around the bar area, and sushi prepared by masters right there in front of you. On our latest visit they prepared a 30 piece Omakase platter, featuring their new green hamachi roll which comes with breaded prawns, avocado, asparagus, jalapeños and a jalapeño mayo, wrapped in yellowtail which is then seared. They’ve added some dishes and drinks to their menu that aren’t available at any of their other venues.
They’ve started doing ramen, for which they sous vide pork belly, kale, miso paste, sesame oil, chilli oil served with fresh handmade noodles from Manchester based Komugi noodles. Such a warming dish – perfect for this time of year. A transparent espresso martini is also on the menu, which is made with vanilla vodka, Koko Kanu, white cacao, coffee, cream and Kahlua.
One of the most unique twists on the classic espresso martini in town.”
