Well done Wilmslow Cleanteam!

The Wilmslow CleanTeam has launched their litter-picking activities for the New Year by collecting about 25 bags so far this month. As well as solo picking by some volunteers, there have been the usual two monthly group events. Six hardy folk braved the heavy rain to come to a Saturday meeting based at Lindow Common Car Park, but their reward after collecting 10 bags was complimentary hot drinks provided by Hickory’s Smokehouse. Hickory’s is one of the four local businesses which have signed up, so far, as co-sponsors of the CleanTeam, helping to fund the equipment needed by volunteer pickers. Special mention to the other co-sponsors Mark Rogers Shoe Repair, The Big Fish & Castletons Accountants.

Could you or your business sponsor them for a donation of £50 for the year?

One of the CleanTeam committee, Helen Battilana, commented  “Sadly, there is always an abundance of unsightly litter around the town waiting to be collected. We welcome new volunteers and will supply them with the necessary equipment. Since our group was formed in Autumn 2013, we have collected nearly 3700 bags of rubbish.”

Wilmlsow CleanTeam are always on the look out for new volunteers for their twice monthly litter picking events, on the first Wednesday and following Saturday. They have a 6 monthly rota which covers most of Wilmslow, with the most littered areas getting extra visits. The next litter pick will take place on Wednesday 2nd February 10am meeting at Bank Square.
