Wilmslow Pride 2025: A Town’s First Celebration of Love and Community

This September marks a historic moment for Wilmslow as the town prepares to host its first-ever Pride celebration, a two-day festival dedicated to love, diversity, and community spirit. Taking place on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th September 2025, Wilmslow Pride is free to attend and welcomes everyone – from LGBTQIA+ residents and families to allies and visitors from across the region.

A Community Effort with Heart

Wilmslow Pride was founded earlier this year by Vicken Couligan, Elaine Evans, Richard Dash, and the late Chris Hilliard, following growing concerns about hostility towards the LGBTQIA+ community. With the support of local residents and guidance from Lisa Russett, BID Manager, the group quickly gathered momentum. Later joined by Eoin Smith, the team established Wilmslow Pride as an official Community Interest Company (CIC), securing a sustainable future and a clear mission: to create visibility, build understanding, and foster year-round support for the LGBTQIA+ community in Wilmslow.

“From the very start, we’ve been blown away by the support from Wilmslow,” said Richard, from Wilmslow Pride. “This event is about creating visibility, celebrating who we are, and showing everyone that Wilmslow is a place where love and community thrive.”

What’s On Across the Weekend

The celebration spans two exciting days:

🌈 Day One: Pride Celebration

📅 Saturday 27th September | 12:00 – 5:00 PM

📍 Bank Square, Wilmslow

Bank Square will transform into the heart of the festivities, with live performances from local singers and dancers, community stalls, charity stands, and special offers from local hospitality businesses. It promises to be a vibrant celebration filled with colour, music, and togetherness.

🌈 Day Two: Community Day

📅 Sunday 28th September | 4:00 – 7:00 PM

📍 Unitarian Church Hall, Wilmslow

The focus shifts to community, reflection, and education. Highlights include a special Alan Turing Exhibition, a community art project, diversity and interfaith service, and a history display about the Unitarian Church. Charity and community stalls will also feature, creating a welcoming space for conversations and connections.

More Than a Celebration

As Vicken from Wilmslow Pride puts it, “This weekend is about more than celebration. It’s about connection, education, and understanding. We want to create a safe, supportive space for LGBTQIA+ people, their families, and allies, and we hope everyone leaves feeling a little closer to their community.”

Join the Celebration

Wilmslow Pride is free to attend, with events spread across Bank Square and the Unitarian Church Hall. Whether you’re there to celebrate, learn, or simply show your support, this landmark event offers something for everyone.
