Jones Homes supports Wilmslow Art Trail on its return to the town centre

Alderley Edge-based Jones Homes has supported the return of the Wilmslow Art Trail to the heart of the town, hosting work by a local artist and sponsoring the opening night of the Wilmslow Art exhibition.

For the first time since 2019, the event began as a trail through Wilmslow town centre. From 25th September, businesses across the town displayed work by artists taking part in the exhibition. The trail ran alongside Wilmslow Home Interiors Week, inviting visitors to explore local shops and showrooms as they followed it.

The trail culminated in the Wilmslow Art exhibition, the town’s annual contemporary art fair, held at the United Reformed Church Halls on Chapel Lane from 2nd to 4th October. Thirty artists, makers and potters from across the region showcased and sold their work over the weekend. Jones Homes sponsored the opening night event on Friday 2nd October, welcoming guests with drinks as the exhibition got under way. The event was a resounding success for all involved, with guests joining to celebrate the town and those creatives who joined the trail.

Jones Homes’ Sales & Information Centre on Grove Street was one of the stops on the trail, displaying work by Wilmslow-based mixed media artist Margaret Veldman-Jones. Originally from the Netherlands, Margaret combines acrylics with collage, print and pattern to create vibrant pieces, often featuring endangered wildlife. She has been a finalist at London’s Sketch for Survival exhibition, and her rhino, Ukoo, was shortlisted for the 2025 Artist of the Year award.

Jones Homes is a family-owned housebuilder, founded in Cheshire and based locally in Alderley Edge. Supporting the communities where it builds has always been part of how the business works, and Wilmslow is home to three of its current developments at Sunfield, Sanctuary Court and Sanctuary Wilmslow.

Carol Barlow, Sales and Marketing Director at Jones Homes North West said,

“We were founded in Cheshire and we’re still family-owned, so Wilmslow feels very much like home to us. The town is particularly close to our hearts, as we have had a strong presence here over many years and have built lasting connections within the local community. Supporting the Art Trail as it returned to the town centre was an easy decision. It was apleasure to welcome guests on the opening night and to have Margaret’s work in our Grove Street window throughout the trail. With Home Interiors Week running alongside, it felt like a natural fit. The pieces people choose to live with are what make a home feel like their own.”

Tessa Matthews of Wilmslow Art Trail added,

“It has been a real pleasure working with the Jones Homes team on the Art Trail, where they have been paired with one of our talented Wilmslow artists. It’s wonderful to be working with a local business that supports community led organisations such as ours. This important, contemporary and creative event in Wilmslow, showcases 30 exceptional Northern artists and makers and attracts people from around the North West. We are grateful for the Jones Homes enthusiasm and support as we celebrate the opening of Wilmslow Art this weekend.”

Visitors who missed the weekend can still contact the artists directly about available pieces and commissions. Details of every exhibiting artist are at wilmslowarttrail.co.uk
