🤖 A Sell-Out Success for the Gizmobots Workshop in Wilmslow
Wilmslow’s young inventors got creative this half term at the Gizmobots Robot Build Workshop, a sell-out event that proved to be a huge hit with children and parents alike. Run by Mark Haig, the talented artist and creator behind Gizmobots, the workshop inspired imaginations and showcased how fun and innovative recycling can be.
Each child was given the chance to design and build their very own robot sculpture using an incredible assortment of upcycled and reclaimed materials, from old gears and bolts to scrap metal and wires. No two robots were the same, with creations ranging from quirky, colourful characters to intricate mechanical masterpieces.
The best part? Every participant got to take their Gizmobot creation home, a proud reminder of what can be achieved with creativity, curiosity and a little sustainability.
Rachel who attended with her son said “We were so impressed with the Gizmobots workshop! It was such a great way to spend time together, creating something truly unique from items that would otherwise have been thrown away. My eleven-year-old son absolutely loved it. I was initially worried he might be a little too old, but the activities were perfectly balanced for children of all ages. After all, what kid wouldn’t enjoy learning to use an electric screwdriver while building their very own robot to take home?”

Mark, who runs Gizmobots1 on Instagram and gizmobots.co.uk , has been building robots from recycled materials for years, turning discarded parts into imaginative art. His workshops not only bring that passion to life but also help children understand the value of reusing and repurposing everyday items rather than throwing them away.
The session was filled with excitement, laughter and a real sense of achievement as Wilmslow’s mini engineers put their ideas into action. It was a great example of how creativity and environmental awareness can come together in one inspiring community event.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended and to Mark for bringing his energy, expertise and enthusiasm to Wilmslow. We can’t wait to see what future Gizmobots events bring!
