Charity Christmas Card & Gift Shops To Raise Funds again this Year

Wide range of festive gifts, toys and decorations also available!

As the days get shorter and the leaves fall, there’s still plenty to look forward to. Not least thoughts of Christmas and the return of the Charity Christmas Card Shops in libraries across Cheshire

Making a return for an amazing 53rd time having been started by Sheila Hallas MBE, in 1971 and having raised almost £6.5m, the card shops are renowned for giving 100% of sales back to the charities they supports, something quite unique in this day. This is possible as all workers in the shops are volunteers and any overheads are covered by the sale of the gifts, wrapping paper, toys and novelties also available in the shops.

From the end of October until early December you are able to visit the shops and purchase the cards. With each charity averaging 10 different designs and over 40 charities featured there is plenty of choice.

Volunteer Jill Dodson said, ” Each year Charities are finding it harder and harder to raise money. Selling Charity Christmas Cards is one solution that works and selling them through the Christmas Card shops works even better as all profits are recouped. The charities also tell us how they love to be involved, manning the shop whilst chatting to our customers in a lovely friendly Christmassy setting. Please visit us and experience the ambience of our shops while doing some good for others.”

The shops are in Wilmslow Library 26th October – 7th December, Macclesfield library  2nd November – 7th  December, Knutsford Library  7th November – 4th  December, Sale  13th November – 28th November all open in line with the library hours. Please look at the website for locations, opening dates and times of each shop. www.christmas-cards.org.uk

Combined Charity Christmas Card Shops

Founded in 1971 and still run by Sheila Hallas MBE and many other volunteers, The Combined Charities Christmas Card Shops have raised over £6m.

A unique approach, the shops enable over 40 charities to get together and sell their cards, with 100% of the sales going back to the charities. This is possible due to the volunteers and the sale of Christmas gifts to cover overheads.

From late October to early December every year, the shops, in libraries across Cheshire, offer consumers the chance to purchase charity cards.
