Local Charity Helps 200 Teenagers Get Ready for Prom Season

As prom season approaches for local Year 11 and Sixth Form students, excitement is building for one of the biggest milestones in a teenager’s school life. But for many families facing financial pressures, the cost of prom can quickly become overwhelming.

To help ensure no young person misses out on celebrating this special occasion, Bare Necessities Toiletry Bank has provided 200 prom preparation packs to partner schools, youth centres and community organisations across Cheshire.

Thanks to generous donations from supporters and a partnership with Glow Hub and Amelia Knight, the charity made up tailored packs for both boys and girls helping teenagers feel confident and ready for their big night. Each pack included essential self-care and grooming products such as deodorant, shower gel, skincare, haircare and make-up items all presented in hand-sewn reusable bags.

Bare Necessities Trustee, Diane Smith, said “Prom should be a memorable and enjoyable experience for every young person, regardless of their circumstances. We know that many families are continuing to face financial challenges, and these packs are about helping teenagers feel included, confident and celebrated.”

The charity continues to support individuals and families experiencing hygiene poverty by distributing essential toiletries and personal care products throughout the local community.

Bare Necessities is encouraging the public to continue donating unopened and unused toiletries, including full-size everyday products, feminine hygiene items, dental care, baby products, and hotel or beauty miniatures.

Donation box locations and further information can be found via the charity’s website.
